This bike & hike tour is a unique combination of a rather leisurely bike tour and a challenging hike that requires sure-footedness. Immerse yourself in the rear Stodertal!

To get in the mood for the rock towers that await you along the Dolomitensteig, you can take a short break at the Schiederweiher pond on foot and admire the most beautiful place in Austria in 2018 with its magical mountain panorama.

A road leads from Hinterstoder far into the valley, but why not cycle this pleasantly uphill stretch? As the cliffs get narrower and narrower to the right and left, you inevitably wonder where there can be a path here. You will solve this riddle at the Baumschlagerreith changing point at the latest.

BIKE
Only the R307 cycle path takes you past the most beautiful place in Austria, the Schiederweiher, on the way to the Baumschlagerreith changing point (please dismount at the Schiederweiher briefly and enjoy the vantage point on foot). On gravel roads, away from the traffic noise, you drive further and further into the Stodertal - along the Steyr, past Dietlgut, Dietlhöll and the former world cup center Bärenalm. Leave your bike at Almgasthof Baumschlagerreith and continue on foot (hike). The way back is on the municipal and Stodertaler Landesstraße or again on the R307 cycle path.

The bike tour takes about 1 hour | 13km | 150 Hm (one way) added to the given tour details.

HIKE
The Stoderer Dolomitensteig is a partly rope-secured climb that requires sure-footedness and no fear for heights. First through beech forests, then over alpine pastures, the trail later leads through imposing rock faces and past crystal-clear pools and numerous small waterfalls. The descent is technically easier. On a narrow trail through pine and mixed forests, past bizarre rock formations, you finally reach the "Poppensand", a mighty, natural heap of gravel. On the last part of the hike along the forest road to the Almgasthof Baumschlagerreith, a short detour to the source of the Steyr is recommended.
Walking time circular trail approx. 4.5-5 hours.
