The second stage of the Westwanderweg leads from Attersee railway station via Abtsdorf and Breitenröth to Nußdorf and via the Wildholzweg to the power place Pfarrer Salettl.  It continues partly high above Lake Attersee through shady forests and magnificent meadows to the natural jewel Egelsee and the sweet chestnut forest above Unterach.

There is also the option of combining the hike with the Attersee boat trip.

You start this hike at the railway station in Attersee am Attersee, follow the signs to Abtsdorf and walk along the railway line for a while at first. Then keep left and continue across the Wimroither-Mühle campsite on an asphalt road until you reach the fork in the forest. Keep left here and walk through a small forest and along a forest path to Abtsdorf. Cross the road and from here follow the Panoramaweg signs to Breitenröth. In Abtsdorf, you can take a look at the late Gothic parish church "Zum Heiligen Laurentius", which impresses with its netted ribbed vault. The pulpit and the altars are by the Mondsee Baroque sculptor Meinrad Guggenbichler.
Enjoy the magnificent view of the picturesque Attersee and the surrounding mountains, cross the road and continue straight on to the Marterl, where you turn left.

A forest path now leads across the fields and through a short stretch of forest to Winterleithen and Breitenröth. Turn left here and follow the signs to the Westwanderweg trail to Nußdorf.

Cross the Anger and walk along the Wildholzweg to the "Pfarrer-Salettl" power station, from where you have a magnificent view of the Attersee lake and the Höllengebirge mountains opposite. Continue along the hiking trail to the Egelsee nature reserve, which lies at 624 metres above sea level and is a relic of the last great ice age. This small high moor lake offers the observer interesting vegetation such as sundew, fescue grass, etc.
