Route
From Reichraming or Großraming on the Hintergebirg cycle path R 9 through the Reichraminger Hintergebirge and past the Schleierfall and the Mooshöhe to Unterlaussa. Then continue at the National Park Kalkalpen cycle path R 31 across the Hengstpass to Windischgarsten or Spital/Pyhrn (another 10 km).

Sonderausstellung im Obergeschoß:
Oldtimermotorräder aus der Region Nach der äußerst erfolgreichen Vorgängersonderausstellung, „Funde Erzählen“, des National-park Kalkalpen, konnte das „Bergbau und Heimatmuseum-Knappenhaus Unterlaussa“ eine neue sensationelle Ausstellung gestalten. Oldtimermotorräder aus der Region, scheint im ersten Moment nicht unbedingt zum Thema eines Bergbau und Heimatmuseums zu passen, jedoch am zweiten Blick zeigt diese Sonderschau eine enge Verbindung zur Region. Alle Motorräder waren in ihrer Laufzeit im Besitz von unter-laussinger Bewohner. So kehren diese Maschinen, zumindest für eine kurze Zeit, wieder in ihre alte Heimat zurück. Der Motorradsammler Christian Michtner aus Admont hat diese Schmankerl in jahrelanger Sammlerleidenschaft zusammengetragen und er zeigt sie erstmals in der Öffentlichkeit. Puch, KTM, Horex, Dukati und andere Marken nennen sich die Maschinen, die zu bewundern sind. Als Ergänzung stellt Michtner auch einen Teil seiner Radiosammlung zur Verfügung. Diese Radios aus alten Zeiten begleiten die Straßenoldies in gebührender Form.
Sonderausstellung im Untergeschoß:
Unterlaussa in Wort, Bild und Ton Unterlaussa gehört zur Gemeinde Weyer. Die Rotten Kessel, Platzl, Hausbauernhöhe, Sonndorf, Dörfl, Mooshöhe, Weißwasser, Oberlaussa und Hengstpass liegen entlang des Laussabaches. Insgesamt sechs Hammerwerke im Tal verarbeiteten bis 1872 das Roheisen, welches vom Steirischen Erzberg auf Flößen bis zur Mündung des Laussabaches auf der Enns transportiert wurden. Einzelne Hammerwerke waren bis ins 20 Jahrhundert hinein in Betrieb. Aber auch zahlreiche andere Wirtschaftszweige wie die Holzwirtschaft, zahlreiche Handwerksbetriebe und die Landwirtschaft waren wesentlicher Bestandteil der Geschichte im Laussatal. Dieses Alltagsleben und vieles mehr zeigt die neu geschaffene Ausstellung im Untergeschoss des Knappenhaus. Ein Teil der Ausstellung ist dem großen Unterlaussinger, OSR Direktor Kurt Redl gewidmet. Er war ein tragender Teil des gesellschaftlichen Lebens im Ort. Redl war Gründer der bundeslandübergreifenden Lawinenkommission, des Kultur und Sportvereines Unterlaussa, er war Leiter einer Expedition nach Spitzbergen, Initiator des Hochsurliftes und er führte Schulskikurse für die Volksschulkinder in Unterlaussa ein. Ein Schüler Redls, der österreichische Skitrainer Karl Frehsner, eroberte unter dem von Redl ausgegebenen Motto, „nur der Wille zählt“, die Skiwelt. Zahlreiche gesellschaftliche Highlights aus 3 Jahrzehnten sind per Video auf einen Groß TV abrufbar.
Virtuelles Weißwasser
Die Außenstelle des Knappenhaus Unterlaussa im Reichraminger Hintergebirge Mittels Augmented Reality wird die in den 1960er Jahren geschliffene, heute historisch bedeutsame Bergbausiedlung Weißwasser im Reichraminger Hintergebirge (Nationalpark Kalkalpen) virtuell wieder sicht und erlebbar. Dies geschieht mittels Augmented Reality*(AR) über die Ausgabe per APP am Handy/Tablet. Auf eine Länge von rund 800 Meter wandern die Besucher entlang des Hintergebirgsradweges und sie erleben am Display ihres Handy oder Tablet links und rechts die Häuser und Baracken, die Seilbahnstation mit der dazugehörigen Materialseilbahn sowie die infrastrukturellen Einrichtungen der Siedlung wie Schlosserei, Tischlerei, Sägewerk und Feuerwehrgarage. Infos zu den jeweiligen Objekten können natürlich am Display abgerufen werden. Bitte die App vor dem Besuch in Weißwasser herunterladen, da vor Ort kein Handyempfang besteht. Das Craftwerk Pub & Brauerei in Großraming ist seit 2003 als Treffpunkt für Bierliebhaber bekannt und wurde 2009 als "Oberösterreichs Bierlokal des Jahres" ausgezeichnet. In dem typischen Dorfgasthaus mit stilistisch unverfälschtem Interieur aus dem Jahr 1951 in der Gaststube findet der Gast zünftige oberösterreichische Hausmannskost. Legendär ist der Mittwoch-Knödeltag, der neben vielen Stammgästen auch immer Feinschmecker anzieht, die durch Mundpropaganda angelockt werden. An die 300 Stück Grammel-, Fleisch- und Hascheeknödel werden durchschnittlich gekocht.
Besonders geschätzt wird auch das "Ritteressen", das bei besonders feierlichen Anlässen gern und ausgiebig konsumiert wird.
Hausgemachte Mehlspeisen runden das kulinarische Angebot ab.
Im Obergeschoß finden sich Säle, die bis zu 120 Personen Platz bieten. In einem alten Gewölbe befindet sich ein gemütliches Stüberl mit Kachelofen.
Ein Ziel des Vereines ist die Förderung des Kunst- und Toleranzgedankens durch das Vorführen wertvoller Filme mit einem Blick auf und in andere Kulturen, wobei wir europäische Produktionen, insbesondere den österreichischen Film, bevorzugen. Ein weiteres Anliegen ist es, die Vielfalt in der heutigen Filmwelt aufzuzeigen, die abseits der Blockbuster zur Verfügung steht. Zufriedene und angeregte Kinobesucher/innen sind für uns ein Ansporn bei der Auswahl der Filme – abwechslungsreich und am Puls der Zeit.

Anfang der 2000er Jahre wurde die Kletteranlage gebaut, seitdem kam 2018 noch eine kurze Kletterwand für Kinder und ein Boulderraum dazu. 2023 wurde die Vorstiegswand komplett erneuert und ein 150m2 großer Boulderblock outdoor errichtet. Seit 2024 ist auch ein Pausenraum mit Getränken zugänglich.
Über 80 Fahrzeuge sind in dem 1986 gegründeten Museum auf über 1200 m² untergebracht. Ein Querschnitt und eine Gegenüberstellung von landwirtschaftlichen, bürgerlichen und adeligen Fortbewegungsmitteln stehen im Mittelpunkt des Museums. Das Museum zeigt Kutschen, die „Geschichte erzählen“, wie z.B. der Schlitten, mit dem Josef Werndl fuhr, oder die Prunkkarosse der Linzer Diözesanbischöfe.
Dem Zubehör rund um Kutsche und Pferd ist ein weiterer Teil des Museums gewidmet. Ein besonderes Anliegen des Museums ist es, die kulturgeschichtlichen Aspekte der früheren Fortbewegungsmittel heutigen Besuchern näher zu bringen und die Geschichte rund um die „Fahrkultur“ von einst zu erzählen.
Zudem ist auch die Sammlung der Heimatstube Großraming vertreten, die einen authentischen Einblick in das Leben der Ennstaler Bevölkerung im 19. Jhd. bietet.
Die Gaststube mit der pechschwarzen Holzdecke und das Kaminzimmer erzählen die Geschichte eines Dorfgasthofes.
Unsere Küche steht für typisch österreichische Gerichte.
Wir verwenden viele Produkte, die direkt in der Region produziert werden (frischer Käse von Bauern, Rind- und Lammfleisch von benachbarten Bauern, Gemüse und Kräuter aus dem Garten).
Oft grillen wir abends mit unseren Gästen auf der wunderschön gelegenen Terrasse und genießen bei einem guten Glas Wein den Sonnenuntergang in den Bergen.
Die Nationalpark Kalkalpen INFOSTELLE Hengstpasshütte liegt direkt an der Passhöhe und ist ein idealer Ausgangspunkt für Wanderungen und Radtouren in den Nationalpark Kalkalpen. Im Winter bietet das Gebiet um den Hengstpass zahlreiche Möglichkeiten für Schneeschuhwanderungen und Schitouren.

2.Some of the tours lead over roads with normal traffic conditions. Please observe that there is an increased risk which can be avoided by means of appropriate attention and proper estimation and implementation of one’s own abilities. For this reason, please travel a route that is unfamiliar to you slowly and with special care. Pay constant attention to potential dangers and always observe traffic. Do not leave the routes featured in descriptions.
The potential use of private roads, in particular forestry roads and agricultural transport roads, can be subject to legal restrictions, which must be observed and adhered to.
The normal traffic rules apply. Each user (e.g. biker, motorbiker) is responsible for adhering to these rules and maintaining his/her bike/vehicle and its equipment (lights, brakes etc.) in good working order. Each user is also responsible for ensuring that he/she rides at a velocity that is appropriate for the conditions and his/her skill level and for maintaining sufficient distance to the rider in front. We explicitly recommend adjusting velocity to correspond to the respective field of vision, wearing a helmet, using reflective clothing (or similar) and employing bicycle lights in line with regulations.
3.Each tour requires good physical fitness as well as detailed planning. We explicitly recommend only taking the tours in the case of optimal healthiness.
We recommend that you conclude an accident and liability insurance policy. Use an onboard computer that displays the respective kilometres travelled per day and is calibrated for the front wheel.
4.Special for mountain bikers – Fair-play rules:
Mountain biking is one of the most wonderful outdoor leisure-time activities. Whilst biking or on a mountain biking tour, mountains and lakes, meadows and cabins are re-discovered in new ways. A couple of rules for fair play in the forest help to avoid conflicts whilst mountain biking.
a.Pedestrians have the right of way: We are accommodating and friendly to pedestrians and hikers. Upon encountering these fellow travellers, we alert them by using the bicycle bell and slowly overtake them. We avoid paths with heavy pedestrian traffic altogether. Take nature into account: We do not leave refuse behind.
b.The braking distance should be half of the total distance visible: We ride at a controlled pace, are ready to brake and maintain a braking distance half as long as the total distance visible, especially in curves, because we always have to count on obstacles on the path. Damage to the path, stones, branches, wood piles, grazing livestock, cattle grids, barriers, tractor-type forestry machines and authorised vehicles pose dangers that we need to be ready for.
c.Don’t drink and drive!: Do not drink alcohol when mountain biking. Take care at stop-off points (dealing with bike racks, dirty shoes or clothing).
It is obligatory to provide first aid!
d.Marked routes, closed paths and blockades: Keep to the marked routes, observe the blockades and accept that these roads are primarily for agricultural and forestry use!
Blockades can often not be avoided and are in your own interest. Biking beyond the intended path and outside of opening times is punishable and turns us into illegal bikers.
e.We are guests in the forest and behave accordingly, including vis-à-vis forestry and hunting staff. Whilst mountain biking, mobile telephones and music players are forbidden! Biking requires your full attention.
f.Avoid unnecessary noise. Out of consideration to the animals living in the wild, we only bike during full daylight. As a principle, we always wear our helmet (even when riding uphill)! Don’t forget emergency supplies: We always have a repair set and bandages along.
g.Don’t overestimate your skills: We should not overdo it when it comes to biking technique and physical fitness. Take the level of difficulty posed by the route into consideration and make a precise estimate of your experience and skills as a biker (braking, bell, lights)!
h.Close gates: We approach grazing livestock at a walking pace and close every gate behind us. We should avoid causing escape and panic reactions in the animals. Nothing stands in the way of the fun and athletic challenge in the mountains and forests!
i.Traffic rules: The general traffic rules (StVO) apply for all the mountain biking routes and we adhere to them. Our bike therefore needs to be in perfect technical condition and equipped in line with the traffic rules, including brakes, a bell and lights. We inspect and service our mountain bikes regularly anyway.
