From the Alpenbad in Micheldorf, past the scythe smith museum, along the Krems river, through the Nußbacher and Wartberger floodplain areas, this long-distance hike leads through the Kremstal valley to Kremsmünster.

Directions:From the parking lot at the Alpenbad in Micheldorf, you walk past the scythe smith museum, later along the Krems river through the Kirchdorfer, Inzersdorfer, Schlierbacher, Nußbacher, and Wartberger floodplain areas.
With a bit of luck, you can spot the protected lapwing in the floodplain areas of Schlierbach and Wartberg.
At halfway, Wartberg offers the first opportunity – without having to make major detours – to get to know the Kremstal gastronomy. Refreshed, you continue on the bike path to Krift and Kremsmünster up to the Landhotel Schicklberg.
The long hike rewards you with magnificent views of the Tote Gebirge mountains, the Warscheneck, the Sengsengebirge mountains, the Kremsmauer, many other well-known peaks, and cultural sites such as the Schlierbach and Kremsmünster monasteries.
Tip:Climate-friendly to the National Park region - Micheldorf station in Upper Austria: By train, you reach the starting point for this hike in about 1 hour from Linz and around 2.5 hours from Vienna.

Here at the Kremsmünster outdoor pool, everyone gets their money's worth! Not only water rats, but also bookworms are offered a lot here.
In addition to the wide range of bathing facilities, there is also a library where guests who love reading can borrow books for a relaxing time in the outdoor pool. The principle of use is simple: you pick up your reading from the shelf, read it on the spot or take it home with you. You can keep the book, but if you no longer need it, you can simply put it back and continue browsing the shelf. In return, however, you can put any usable books that are still in good condition on the shelf.
Swimming and diving courses are held for the younger bathers. We also have a lot to offer away from the pools: At the playground area, children of all ages can bob, swing and climb to their heart's content. With our new childcare offer "Children's fun in the open-air pool", parents can also swim in a relaxed way, you can find more details below.

Das Kloster Kremsmünster, 777 von Herzog Tassilo III. gegründet, ist eines der mächtigsten Klöster in Österreich. Es beherbergt das "Guntergrab", den Tassilokelch. Die Stiftskirche ist dem Weltheiland geweiht.
Das Kloster Kremsmünster wurde 777 vom Bayrischen Herzog Tassilo III. gestiftet, nachdem sein Sohn Gunther bei der Jagd durch einen Eber tödlich verletzt wurde. Hintergrund war jedoch die weitere Kolonisation des auch von Slawen besiedelten Gebietes. Zahlreiche Bischöfe und Grafen nahmen an der Gründungszeremonie teil. Das „Gunthergrab“ befindet sich übrigens in der südlichen Turmkapelle der mächtigen Stiftskirche und besteht aus einem Kenotaphen aus weißer Nagelfluh mit einer Deckplatte aus 1304. Gunther ist in ein farbenprächtiges, romanisches Röhrengewand gehüllt.
Die mächtige Klosteranlage mit einer Länge des Südflügels von 290 m, eine der größten Österreichs, wurde mehrmals umgebaut. Unter den Baumeistern von Carlo Antonio Carlone und Jakob Prandtauer erhielten die Gebäude das heutige Aussehen im Barockstil.
Die Kirche brannte mehrmals ab. 1232 begann der Bau der heutigen, von Anfang an dem Weltheiland geweihte Kirche, im 11. Jahrhundert kam der Hl. Agapitus dazu. Die ursprünglich gotische Kirche wurde 1277 zum 500jährigen Jubiläum der Stiftsgründung geweiht. Die gotischen Türme folgten erst 200 Jahre später. Von Anfang des 17. Jahrhunderts bis ca. 1730 wurde die Kirche in mehreren Phasen barockisiert. Auffallend sind die vielen Stuckarbeiten im ganzen Innenraum und die flämischen Goblins, die nun ständig die Säulen schmücken. Die Stiftskirche St. Agapitus ist 78 Meter lang, 21 Meter breit und das Hauptschiff 18 Meter hoch.
Das Kloster Kremsmünster ist natürlich reich an vielen Kunstschätzen. Neben der Bibliothek mit seinen 160.000 Beständen ist vor allem der Tassilokelch, eine Schenkung des Herzogs Tassilo III. und seiner Gemahlin Liutberga um 780 aus Anlass der Gründung, das Kostbarste des Stiftes. Der berühmte Kelch ist in der Schatzkammer verwahrt.
Eine Besonderheit ist die Sternwarte von Kremsmünster, eigentlich der „Mathematische Turm“. Er gilt mit seinen 51 m Höhe als eines der ersten Hochhäuser Österreichs (1758) und in ihm wirkten bekannte Astronomen. Heute ist ein Wissenschaftsmuseum untergebracht und die Warte kann auf durchgängige Temperaturaufzeichnung seit 1767 verweisen, was keine Wetterstation der Welt hat.
Inmitten der hügeligen Landschaft des oberösterreichischen Voralpenlandes liegt Kremsmünster. In dem 777 vom Bayernherzog Tassilo III. gegründete Kloster sind Glaube und Wissenschaft eine fruchtbare Beziehung eingegangen.
Die Sternwarte, das älteste Hochhaus Europas, wurde 1748 – 1758 als klösterliche Forschungsstätte für Naturwissenschaften und als Universalmuseum errichtet. Das traditionsreiche Gymnasium – einer der Absolventen hieß Adalbert Stifter – besteht seit 1549. Kremsmünster war von alters her eine Stätte der Kultur. Die überaus reichen Kunstsammlungen bergen Werke von Weltruhm (Tassilokelch, Codex Millenarius uvm). Bei den Stiftskonzerten im herrlichen Kaisersaal wird nur höchstes Niveau geboten.
Vor allem aber ist Kremsmünster ein Kloster, in dem Mönche leben, beten und arbeiten. Schon bald nach der Gründung des Klosters weitete sich die dörfliche Niederlassung zu einem allseits geachteten Handwerker- und Marktort aus. 1489 erhielt sie von Kaiser Friedrich III. das Marktrecht. Nicht entgehen lassen sollten Sie sich die geführte Kulturwanderung durch den historischen Kern des Ortes: stilvolle alte Bürgerhäuser, schöne Fassaden, Blumen an Fenstern und Erkern.
Das Musikinstrumentenmuseum im Schloss Kremsegg zeigt über tausend seltene, historisch bedeutende Blasinstrumente aus der ganzen Welt – vom Zarenhorn bis zur Jazztrompete von Louis Amstrong. Vorträge, Konzerte, Cabarets und Filme im Kulturzentrum Kino, Theater im ältesten Dilettantentheater Österreichs, gegründet 1812, Ausstellungen, Markt, Bad- und Volkstumsfeste, der Bauernmarkt am Freitagnachmittag – all das bringt Leben in den Kremsmüsterer Alltag.
Nur wer hier die Ruhe fernab der großen Straße und des Lärms findet, kann die Stimme der Landschaft belauschen. Lassen Sie Ihr Auto stehen, und entdecken Sie auf „Stifters Spuren“ Aulandschaften der Krems, fruchtbare Äcker, dazwischen barocke Kapellen und stattliche Vierkanter, bunte Wiesen, große und kleine Teiche, Obstgärten, Nadel- und Mischwälder. Die Natur gibt ihr schönstes Schauspiel! Man muss sich nur Zeit dafür nehmen. Und zum Entspannen ist die Therme MEDITERRANA in Bad Hall mit der stärksten Jod-Solequelle Mitteleuropas der richtige Ort. Die Seele können Sie im 34 ha großen Bad Haller Kurpark, 2005 Austragungsort der Oö Landesgartenschau mit einem Feuerwerk an Blüten und Pflanzen. Ein Muss auch der Besuch des Bad Haller Handwerkermuseums Forum Hall mit seiner einzigartigen Sammlung von alten Toren.
Die Bewegung fernab von Alltag und das milde Klima bringen Körper und Seele wieder ins Gleichgewicht und machen Appetit auf eine Schmankerlreise. Die Kremsmünsterer Gastronomie bietet vom deftigen Knödel, über herzhaften Speck, cremigen Topfen bis zum spritzigen Most für jeden Gusto das Passende. Der Segelflug- und Modellbauclub Kirchdorf-Micheldorf ist ein gemeinnütziger Verein zur Förderung und Ausübung des Segel- und Modellflugs auf Leistungs- und Breitensportbasis.
Das fliegerische Erlebnis und die Kameradschaft stehen im Mittelpunkt unserer Vereinsaktivitäten. Wir sind bestrebt, jedem Mitglied einen individuellen Kompromiss zwischen Kosten- und Zeitaufwand zu ermöglichen und somit den Segelflug- und Modellflugsport allen Bevölkerungsschichten zugänglich zu machen.
Die Sicherheit unserer Mitglieder, der Schutz der Umwelt und die Interessen der Region haben für uns oberste Priorität. Die Eigenverantwortung unserer Mitglieder hat einen hohen Stellenwert. Das Bewusstsein dafür wecken wir durch eine solide Grundausbildung und eine begleitende Weiterbildung, die sich an den Fähigkeiten des/r einzelnen Piloten/in orientiert.

Auf historischem Boden, direkt an den Wurzeln der europäischen Industriegeschichte, befindet sich das Sensen Museum Micheldorf. Am Standort der ehemaligen "Sensenschmiede am Gries" wurden hier über 400 Jahre lang Sensen erzeugt und millionenfach in die gesamte Welt exportiert.
Der Industriepionier Caspar Zeitlinger führte den Betrieb im 19.Jahrhundert zu größter Blüte. 1845 beschäftigte er bereits über 400 Mitarbeiter und war damit einer der größten und bedeutendsten Unternehmer der gesamten Monarchie.
Ein Besuch im Sensen Museum ist eine Zeitreise in diese vergangene Epoche. Authentisch erhaltene Gebäude und zahlreiche Originalgegenstände lassen den Alltag von Caspar und Josepha Zeitlinger, ihrer Familie, Arbeiter und Arbeiterinnen lebendig werden und erzählen von ihren Sorgen und Nöten ebenso wie von ihren Träumen und Visionen.

2.Some of the tours lead over roads with normal traffic conditions. Please observe that there is an increased risk which can be avoided by means of appropriate attention and proper estimation and implementation of one’s own abilities. For this reason, please travel a route that is unfamiliar to you slowly and with special care. Pay constant attention to potential dangers and always observe traffic. Do not leave the routes featured in descriptions.
The potential use of private roads, in particular forestry roads and agricultural transport roads, can be subject to legal restrictions, which must be observed and adhered to.
The normal traffic rules apply. Each user (e.g. biker, motorbiker) is responsible for adhering to these rules and maintaining his/her bike/vehicle and its equipment (lights, brakes etc.) in good working order. Each user is also responsible for ensuring that he/she rides at a velocity that is appropriate for the conditions and his/her skill level and for maintaining sufficient distance to the rider in front. We explicitly recommend adjusting velocity to correspond to the respective field of vision, wearing a helmet, using reflective clothing (or similar) and employing bicycle lights in line with regulations.
3.Each tour requires good physical fitness as well as detailed planning. We explicitly recommend only taking the tours in the case of optimal healthiness.
We recommend that you conclude an accident and liability insurance policy. Use an onboard computer that displays the respective kilometres travelled per day and is calibrated for the front wheel.
4.Special for mountain bikers – Fair-play rules:
Mountain biking is one of the most wonderful outdoor leisure-time activities. Whilst biking or on a mountain biking tour, mountains and lakes, meadows and cabins are re-discovered in new ways. A couple of rules for fair play in the forest help to avoid conflicts whilst mountain biking.
a.Pedestrians have the right of way: We are accommodating and friendly to pedestrians and hikers. Upon encountering these fellow travellers, we alert them by using the bicycle bell and slowly overtake them. We avoid paths with heavy pedestrian traffic altogether. Take nature into account: We do not leave refuse behind.
b.The braking distance should be half of the total distance visible: We ride at a controlled pace, are ready to brake and maintain a braking distance half as long as the total distance visible, especially in curves, because we always have to count on obstacles on the path. Damage to the path, stones, branches, wood piles, grazing livestock, cattle grids, barriers, tractor-type forestry machines and authorised vehicles pose dangers that we need to be ready for.
c.Don’t drink and drive!: Do not drink alcohol when mountain biking. Take care at stop-off points (dealing with bike racks, dirty shoes or clothing).
It is obligatory to provide first aid!
d.Marked routes, closed paths and blockades: Keep to the marked routes, observe the blockades and accept that these roads are primarily for agricultural and forestry use!
Blockades can often not be avoided and are in your own interest. Biking beyond the intended path and outside of opening times is punishable and turns us into illegal bikers.
e.We are guests in the forest and behave accordingly, including vis-à-vis forestry and hunting staff. Whilst mountain biking, mobile telephones and music players are forbidden! Biking requires your full attention.
f.Avoid unnecessary noise. Out of consideration to the animals living in the wild, we only bike during full daylight. As a principle, we always wear our helmet (even when riding uphill)! Don’t forget emergency supplies: We always have a repair set and bandages along.
g.Don’t overestimate your skills: We should not overdo it when it comes to biking technique and physical fitness. Take the level of difficulty posed by the route into consideration and make a precise estimate of your experience and skills as a biker (braking, bell, lights)!
h.Close gates: We approach grazing livestock at a walking pace and close every gate behind us. We should avoid causing escape and panic reactions in the animals. Nothing stands in the way of the fun and athletic challenge in the mountains and forests!
i.Traffic rules: The general traffic rules (StVO) apply for all the mountain biking routes and we adhere to them. Our bike therefore needs to be in perfect technical condition and equipped in line with the traffic rules, including brakes, a bell and lights. We inspect and service our mountain bikes regularly anyway.
