Green Event Touristik works together with the most important event companies and hotels and provides organisers with advice and assistance in the implementation of various event formats.

GREEN MEETINGS & EVENTS: For years, the city has been providing decisive impetus for the sustainable use of resources with the international energy-saving trade fair. The Green Event Touristik initiative has transferred the environmental concept to the entire event sector. This strategic focus of a city on green meetings & events in business tourism is unique in Austria. Since 2014, the seminar hotels in Wels have been awarded the Austrian Ecolabel for Tourism and the tourism association acts as a certification body for green meetings and events. All seminar hotels in the city centre have committed to the comprehensive criteria of the eco-label. The Wels tourism region actively supports event organisers in the implementation of green events in the region, from support with event bookings through to implementation. This voluntary adherence to precisely defined environmental standards is more than just a marketing campaign. Green Meetings & Events are a trend whose philosophy and mindset is appealing to a growing number of event organisers.
 
SUPPORT FOR GREEN EVENTS: This sustainable strategy will be further expanded in the coming years. Since mid-2024, in addition to the new congress funding from the state of Upper Austria, there has also been financial support for organisers for the implementation of Green Meetings & Events with overnight stays in certified establishments in the Wels region. Support of up to € 7,500 is possible for major events.
 
BEST INFRASTRUCTURE: The necessary infrastructure for the realisation of Green Meetings & Events is of course available. Almost 50,000 m² of event space and over 3,000 beds  The seminar hotels have been awarded the Austrian Ecolabel, many green meetings have already been held in the region's locations and certified catering companies are also available. With optimal public transport connections, these are the best conditions for organising a green meeting or green event
