In Feldkirchen an der Donau, near the famous Teufelsloch - where Goethe once stayed on his journey and his character Doctor Faust dined in the eponymous legend - the Hotel Restaurant Faustschlössl today welcomes guests from all over the world. Since 1996, the brothers Wolfgang and Rudolf Zauner have been in charge of this historic hotel. With courage and passion, Rudolf ventured into self-employment as a career changer and found the perfect partner in his brother Wolfgang, the passionate chef, to fill the family business with life to this day. It's not just the breathtaking location that makes the Faustschlössl so special. It is the people behind it, the cuisine that inspires guests and a story of home and nature.
 
The Faustschlössl is characterised by a moving history: formerly occupied by the Russians and completely destroyed, the property was transformed into the hotel we know today with a great deal of love and energy. In 1977, it was taken over by the Zauner brothers' mother and later handed over to Rudolf and Wolfgang. Today, the Faustschlössl has not only historical but also culinary stories to tell. The Faustschlössl sources a large selection of potatoes and vegetables as well as high-quality meat from regional farmers. Seasonal cuisine is the restaurant's trademark - asparagus in spring, mushrooms in summer, game in autumn and steak weeks in December. However, the restaurant is particularly well-known for its pork medallions with mustard sauce or the home-marinated salmon served with gin and beetroot. If you fancy a little more, guests will find a highlight all year round - the "Dinner for Two", an atmospheric 4-course menu for a romantic evening for two.
 
The Faustschlössl reflects the spirit and treasures of the region in every facet of the house: the Danube and the rolling hills form the backdrop around the historic property and the regional quality can be tasted in the restaurant's cuisine. You immediately notice that you are in a place where nature unfolds its full beauty.

In addition to the Faustschlössl's cuisine, they all want to savour one thing in particular: the hotel's unique, private Danube beach, which is the only one of its kind between Passau and Vienna. Nature lovers can hire bikes to explore the Danube Cycle Path and the Eferdinger-Land-Runde route. Hikes include the Donausteig-St.Martin-Aschach stage or the Schlösserrunde in Feldkirchen an der Donau. And if you want a historical highlight, you can discover the famous Devil's Hole nearby.
