Salzkammergut Festwochen: Konzert "Ernst Molden & Der Nino aus Wien"

Six years after ‘Unser Österreich’, the Viennese songwriters' dream team released another album together in spring 2021. The ‘Leonard Cohen of Vienna’ and the ‘Bob Dylan of the Praterstern’ not only went into studio lockdown for the album, they also wrote songs together for the first time.

Ernst Molden & Der Nino aus Wien wrote about the circus and the circus, about circus performers and clowns. It is a gentle concept album about travelling people. ‘Clowns were funny to me,’ recalls Molden, ’but also sad. I thought the clown is already so poor and understands so little and then everyone laughs at him. I felt sorry for him.’ The last time Der Nino aus Wien was in the circus was an estimated two years ago. ‘It was colourful and a fun evening. I briefly wanted to become an artist, but then I rejected the idea and wrote a song the next day instead.’ To be more precise, the beginning of a song: ‘Ernst visited me in my rehearsal room in Simmering and I played him the beginning of my song. He then said that he also had a part that could go with it. So we already had our first song.’ ‘Zirkusmusik’ was the name of this first song, and it forms the end of this sensationally successful record.
