For more than four decades, Elmar Trenkwalder has been convincing with a work of fascinating content and visual ambiguity developed from drawing.

In their fantastic, exuberant richness of detail, his monumental works are reminiscent of magnificent Baroque and Rococo architecture, but also of Asian richness of form. The development of a more architecturally than ceramically conceived construction method increasingly gave rise to those opulent, expansive sculptures that only experience static limits through the virtuoso mastery of the material.
