Phillips & The Tallis Scholars: Cosmos Arvo Pärt

International Brucknerfest Linz 2025. Five days after the 90th birthday of Arvo Pärt, the Tallis Scholars under the direction of Peter Phillips will bring the cosmos of Arvo Pärt to life in Linz's Mariendom.

Works by Pärt, including the sonorous Da pacem Domine as well as the rousing Which Was the Son of ... on a text from the Gospel of Luke with its almost endless enumeration of the family tree of Jesus, are juxtaposed with works by the Renaissance master Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, whose 500th birthday is being celebrated. In the monumental sound space of the Mariendom, Palestrina's artistic polyphony enters into an exciting dialog with Pärt's reduced, concentrated Tintinnabuli style.
