The village´s ancient name Chrenginpach first appeared in historical documents in the year 985 as location of the Saint Stephen´s Church.Krenglbach is the birthplace of various artists and musicians. It is the place where the famous rustic furniture paintings, renown as Gunskirchen Furniture, were created. It is the place where Anton Reidinger was born in 1839. He wrote the famous Austrian Christmas carol "Es wird scho glei dumpa" (The Twilight is Falling) and is noted for being a successful dialect poet. Popular composer Johann Strauss (Father) also left his musical footprints in Krenglbach.
