Pöndorf
Pöndorf, Oberösterreich, Österreich

Pöndorf nestles in a picturesque setting in the Vöcklatal region (Kobernausserwald) - not far from the Salzkammergut lake district and the city of Salzburg.
Pöndorf first appeared in historical documents in 809. The lovely scenery around Pöndorf lends itself to outstanding nature exploration, offering gently rolling, wooded hills and magnificent views and vistas as far as the Dachstein massif. The Landgraben ditch running through the town is the last remains of the former Austo-Bavarian border.Pöndorf has a lot to offer to culture vultures: Do not miss out on a visit to St Maximilian's (refurbished in 1984/85) and the chapels and wayside shrines throughout the town. A well-marked trails system tempts nature buffs to explore the picture postcard forests and hills. The sports minded visitors also get their share and may feel free to make use of the covered asphalt curling alleys, the sports center and gym, and the local cross-country skiing tracks and horse-riding facilities. A number of local farmers offer fresh, organic farm produce for sale. Special winter highlight: fancy-dress balls in February!
