Brunnenthal
Brunnenthal, Oberösterreich, Österreich

The romantic pilgrimage town of Brunnenthal is located near baroque Schärding.
In 1640 Georg Auer, farmer in Haraberg, learned that the water from his fountain had healing powers: after drinking it he all of a sudden was healed from the painful joint disease that came with constant weight loss. Before this miracle healing Auer had several dreams in which he himself standing in front of a cross or a martyr column. To express his gratitude for his speedy recovery he had such a monument built next to the fountain. From this day on the fountain became a popular site with pilgrims from near and far.Another cultural highlight is the annual Brunnenthal Concert Summer presenting early music in the beautiful baroque church.
