The name Schlüßlberg first appeared in historical records in the year 1100. Schlüßlberg has many shops, cafés, and restaurants, and all the usual services including local authority, kindergarten, church, health center, post office and banks. Construction for a local elementary school started recently.

Schlüßlberg also offers an area sports and recreational center, complete with tennis courts, a sports field and landscaped playgrounds. In the winter months, the Schlüßlberg Pond is great for ice skating and curling. There are great remote trails for hiking with lovely places to stop by and enjoy a hearty snack. What´s more, the surrounding scenery is crisscrossed by 5 kilometers of cycle trails.
