Wedl

Vöcklabruck, Oberösterreich, Österreich

From a grocery shop to one of the largest private food retailers in Austria. In 1904, Leopold Wedl I founded a grocery shop in Hall in Tyrol, laying the foundations for a company that is now one of the top 10 food retailers in Austria.

In 1967, the company complex was built in Mils, which is still the company headquarters today. At the same time, the first Wedl store was opened. With the takeover of the Dick company in Saalfelden in 1978, Wedl crossed state borders for the first time.

"Our company's strategy has always been to impress with expertise, service, high product quality and a willingness to innovate," explains Leopold Wedl. As early as 1985, a mobile data recording and ordering system was introduced and the first scanner was used in an Austrian convenience store.
