In winter, the Schafkogelsee reservoir serves as a water reserve for the snow-making systems on the Höss ski slopes in Hinterstoder.
In summer you can take a leisurely stroll from the mountain station of the Höss Express chairlift to the reservoir in just a few minutes. From here there are further hikes and you are enchanted by the mountain scenery. The mountain range of the Prielgruppe in the Dead Mountains, together with the Schafkogelsee, offers a kitschy backdrop.
The Schafkogelsee excursion destination is ideal for beautiful hikes in summer and is open around the clock!

Accessibility / arrivalThe Schafkogelsee reservoir cannot be reached by car. The easiest way to reach it is via the Hinterstoder gondola lift and then the Höss Express 6-seater chairlift. This takes you directly to the Höss and the reservoir can be reached in just a few minutes on foot.
