Zwischenbrücken
Steyr, Oberösterreich, Österreich
This small square lies between the Enns and Steyr bridges. This is where the town centre ends, and in the 19th century the square was still bordered by two mighty city gates.
The entrance to Lamberg Castle, the original Styraburg, leads through a Gothic archway. The fresco above the archway shows two knights with the coats of arms and emblems of the Habsburgs Friederich III and his son Maximilian I. To the left, on the narrow side of the house, these two Habsburgs as emperors. The last house on the inner side is the Löwenapotheke, with a beautiful Baroque façade. In 1800, an armistice between Austria and France was concluded in this house, which led to the peace treaty between the two countries a few months later.
