St. Barbara Cemetery

Very close to the centre of Linz lies one of the oldest cemeteries in Upper Austria: the St. Barbara cemetery. Here people of all religions find their last resting place.

St. Barbara's Cemetery was built at its current location at the end of the 18th century. Over the centuries, the cemetery grounds have been expanded to 12 hectares, and today there are around 20,000 graves here.

The careful, natural design with thousands of trees, shrubs and hedges makes it a retreat in the middle of the city all year round, a true park of silence, remembrance and hope.
The simple, bright farewell rooms offer a dignified, reverently sensitive setting for different and individual farewell ceremonies.

In addition to the "classic" row grave, many other types of grave are available for coffin and urn burials - from the traditional wall crypt to the burial of urns under your own family tree.
The cemetery is owned and managed by the St. Barbara Gottesackerstiftung.
