Thekla chapel
St. Lorenz am Mondsee, Oberösterreich, Österreich

The Thekla chapel in St. Lorenz was built in the second half of the 19th century.
Since not a lot of trees were left the rain took the soil away until only the rock was left. After heavy rains the water of the river would appear Brown.
The inkeeper of the local Pub in Scharfling looked after the pass, when suddenly a huge thunderstorm appeared. He wanted to open the pass, before the storm would destroy it, but he was too late.
The pass broke and Mr Wesenauer had to climb on a tree to not be swept away by the flood. ON this tree a Picture of the holy Thekla was mounted. Out of thankfulness he built a chapel for Saint Thekla.
The Thekla Chapel has been looked after by centuries by the Family Schachl. They clean it every April. The sheet for the altar was made by Maria Eder.
Every sunday in may a mess is hold.
