Diakoniewerk today

Diakoniewerk is an innovative organisation active in various fields of social and healthcare work in Austria and internationally. It designs contemporary programmes for people with disabilities, for the elderly, in the health and education sectors. The development of new, social space-orientated living concepts is at the forefront of this.

The Diakoniewerk is involved in neighbourhood work, family counselling, refugee work and poverty-related migration. Several businesses as well as a further education academy and 3 student residences round off the broad range of activities.

Diakoniewerk draws on more than 145 years of experience in caring for and supporting people. Today, more than 3,500 employees contribute their expertise and experience to around 200 facilities and a large number of additional programmes. Volunteers are a valuable asset to the organisation.

Diakoniewerk is a member of Diakonie Österreich, one of the five major welfare organisations in Austria.
