The Vorchdorf railway station is a special train station. This is where the narrow-gauge (metre-gauge) Traunseetram (line 161) from Gmunden and the standard-gauge Vorchdorferbahn (line 160) from Lambach via Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting meet.

An ideal starting point for excursions into the Almtal valley and/or to Lake Traunsee.

The Traunseetram connects the district capital of Gmunden with the municipalities of Gschwandt, Kirchham and Vorchdorf and is an important pillar of regional commuter, school and tourist transport. Thanks to the merger of the former Traunseebahn railway and the Gmunden tramway to form today's Traunseetram, you can travel from Vorchdorf to Gmunden main station and from there to the rest of the world. But for now, just hop on, try it out and explore the region with the Traunsee tram! Gmunden's town centre, bathing facilities, steam pier, Grünberg cable car, restaurants, the Salzkammergut shopping park and Gmunden railway station (ÖBB) can be reached quickly and easily from the surrounding communities. Modern, barrier-free vehicles guarantee maximum safety and comfortable travelling for all passengers.

The Vorchdorf railway runs from Vorchdorf-Eggenberg via Bad Wimsbach-Neydharting and Stadl-Paura to Lambach. Scheduled services can be connected in Vorchdorf-Eggenberg to the Traunseetram to Gmunden and to the Western railway line to Wels, Linz, Vienna or Salzburg. Nostalgia fans and railway photographers can still get their money's worth on the Vorchdorf railway, as some older vehicles are still in scheduled service. But time is no longer standing still on this line either: Waiting areas are already being renovated and platforms extended so that more modern, barrier-free vehicles can soon be put into operation here too. This and an extended timetable are making the railway more and more interesting for commuters.
