BIO as a special pleasure experience - the fascinating world of organic sausage production
Sonnberg Biofleisch processes 100 percent meat from animals from Austrian organic agriculture. For managing director Manfred Huber, the location in the organic region of Mühlviertel is part of the corporate philosophy. After all, with 28 percent, the Mühlviertel has the highest proportion of organic farmers in Upper Austria and the second highest in Austria. The species-appropriate animal husbandry in the supplying companies ensures the sustainable management of the rural natural and cultural landscape.Sonnberg Biofleisch guarantees organic certification for all work processes in-house – from the most stress-free slaughter to the end product from the sausage factory. Therefore, only natural spices and ingredients are used during processing and no flavor enhancers or colorings. "This results in a very special meat and sausage quality that you can simply taste," says Managing Director Manfred Huber. For him, organic and enjoyment belong together if you want to convince consumers of the value of sustainably produced food.
With the "Organic Sausage Experience", a unique show operation was created in Unterweißenbach, which offers an insight into all steps of organic meat processing. How do the animals live on organic farms? Where do the natural spices for the sausage products come from? How is hearty organic bacon made? - all these questions are answered by a visit to the Sonnberg Organic Sausage Experience.
A brief overview of the tour:
- Arrival & welcome to the Sonnberg organic sausage experience
- Bio quiz on the quiz wall with a chance to win
- "What is organic?" Film presentation & film screening in the Wurstkino (approx. 20 min)
- Guided tour of the company premises & visit to the "Glass Slaughterhouse" (approx. 40 minutes)
- Possibility of a cozy snack or lunch
- Enjoyable organic bacon tasting in bacon heaven - this includes 4 types of organic bacon & 2 types of organic sausage including bread
- Possibility of shopping in our organic gourmet shop & organic meat and sausage shop
The duration of the tour (including a snack and bacon tasting) is two to three hours, depending on the size of the group.
