Hallstatt Salt Mine Railway
This state-of-the-art funicular takes you comfortably and with full accessibility up into the Hallstatt high valley. There, you can enjoy the view over Hallstatt from the spectacular Skywalk and discover the millennia-old history of this special place at the walk-through exhibition mine. The new Salzwelten bistro “Weitblick 7,000” invites you to enjoy regional specialties with a modern twist and a magnificent view. Back in the valley, the new Salzwelten flagship store is all about “white gold”—complemented by gifts, wellness offerings, and souvenirs.
Tip: In the Hallstatt high valley, the world’s oldest salt mine is waiting for you to discover it.

From Thalgau, take Federal Highway B158 toward Bad Ischl; in Bad Ischl, take the ramp onto the Salzkammergut Road (B145) toward Bad Goisern; in Bad Goisern, turn right onto B166; at the Gosaumühle intersection, turn left toward Hallstatt
From Linz:
Take the Regau exit on the highway and follow the Salzkammergut Road (B145) toward Gmunden and Bad Ischl until you reach Bad Goisern; in Bad Goisern, turn right onto the B166; at the Gosaumühle intersection, turn left toward Hallstatt
From Vienna/Graz:
Take the Liezen exit and follow the B320; in Trautenfels, turn onto the Salzkammergut Road (B145) toward Bad Aussee; then turn onto Koppenstraße through Obertraun to Hallstatt
From Villach:
Take the Tauern Autobahn to the “Eben im Pongau” exit; continue on the B166 over the Gschütt Pass and along the federal highway through Gosau; at the Gosaumühle intersection, turn right toward Hallstatt
