Wilhering Abbey rest area
The riparian zones of the Danube river with their habitat-typical accompanying structures and biotope types must be preserved, as they provide a habitat for a large number of animal and plant species. Gravel banks, for example, are indispensable for birds such as the common sandpiper. It is a species that is sensitive to disturbance and uses the river valleys as a habitat and breeding ground. The use of gravel areas as recreational and bathing areas for people is often a problem. Large sections of the banks of the Danube are no longer natural. However, some revitalisation measures are restoring near-natural habitats such as gravel banks and islands to the Danube.
When two people find each other and, for whatever reason, are not allowed to be together, it can happen that two souls spend their whole lives in mourning. What remains is only "An unforgotten love".
