Forest Chapel

The forest has shaped the history of Waldneukirchen since the beginning of time, and even gave it its name 800 years ago. In those days our parish was known as “New Church in the Forest”.

Historical documents of the area record many professions that are related to the forest, such as hunters, charcoal burners or fork makers, the priest Josef Kammerer explained.
He welcomed the local hunting society’s idea very much who erected a chapel in the “Christlaigner Schacha” forest.
The rotunda’s interior is adorned with the Genesis.
The chapel is joined to the elementary school at the centre of the village with a "nature & hunting" theme trail. Ramblers can explore the natural world of wonder and discovery.
