The original hilltop Castle Chapel is the landmark of Uttendorf.
There has been a Chapel on this location for some 1,600 years when the Romans founded a hilltop citadel on the site. It was destroyed for several times at times of the migration of peoples. By the end of the 14th century the Chapel was rebuilt. The Church that you see was built by stages and is mainly of the early 18th century. The years 1717 and 1718 saw comprehensive extension and augmentation to the church with a new tower added. Under the reign of Emperor Josef II the Church was abandoned between 1782 and 1837. A complete restoration was carried out in the year 1877. The most recent alterations of the outer façade date from the year 1988.
