Welser Metzen Scales

At the corner Schmidtgasse / Stadtplatz a copy of the "Welser Metzen" is put up. The original measure of capacity is in the Burgmuseum (Museum in the Casle of Wels). The marble dish was the standard measure (about 75 liters) for measuring grain. The great importance of the Wels corn market at that time is also evident for the fact that the measure of the Welser Metzen had significance and validity far beyond the city limits.
