Giselawarte Observation Tower

Oh what a beautiful view... If you are the type that truly appreciates a stunningly gorgeous view, then you absolutely must visit our Observation Tower, lovingly dubbed "Gis"!

The building's first cornerstone was laid in 1857. Its foundation probably is connected with merchant Johann Pollack from Linz. The completion of Giselawarte is said to have occurred on the very day when Princess Gisela, a daughter of Austria´s Emperor Franz Josef, was born. Thus the tower was named for "Gisela".

A new story was erected in the year 1881, as the rapidly growing forest obstructed the view from the tower. 1959 saw comprehensive extension and augmentation to the Observation Tower with two new stories added. The platform was covered by a canopy. Today´s height is 18 meters tall.

"Giselawarte" Observation Tower can be visited all day long. The key is ready for pick-up at adjacent Zur Gis Inn within opening hours (Tuesdays to Sundays 09:00 am - 10:00 pm).
