Legend has it that this idyllic spot was favored by divine providence ...
The original place of worship was in Kropfhueb in Tiefenweg. Since the new building was destroyed night after night the faithful decided to erect the church on a very special spot selected by divine providence. Two oxen were harnessed to a carriage full of building materials. They stopped exactly in Oberregau and in the same place the church was constructed.
To the Gothic church, dedicated to Saint Vitus portrayed right next to the altar, a Baroque ceiling with precious decorations was added.
