The local commune purchased the Hagenberg Castle with financial support by the Upper Austrian government in 1985 to save it from dilapidation and possible demolition. The remains of the Castle were restored with new complexes added. In 1988 the Riepl/Moser architectural team received the Architecture Award of the Province of Upper Austria for its exemplary work. The Altburg houses the RISC Research Institute of the University of Linz. The Village Hall was completed within the second construction phase in 1991 and features a special events hall, a vaulted cellar for smaller occasions, the local authority offices with registry office and a restaurant.
