Between the historic Maltsch bridge in Mairspindt and the village of Hammern is the approx. 6 metre high granite formation. The sound of the water masses of the Maltsch can only be heard within a metre. You can hear the rushing water particularly well if you go directly to the rock. One possible explanation for this "phenomenon" is that the noise of the Maltsch is reflected back from the rock faces opposite on the Czech side. The question as to why this noise is only audible at the above-mentioned location remains unanswered. The tourist centre of Windhaag built a path along the embankment, at the same time a plateau was built in front of the listening point and the steep embankment towards the road was made as safe as possible. Small signposting measures were carried out at the car park along the road near the Mairspindt border crossing and in the area of the "Rauschenden Felsen". Innkeeper Karl Affenzeller has summarised a legend from old documents, and a sign at the "Rauschenden Felsen" tells of the "nature radio play".
