The Moated Castle of Aistersheim is noted for being about the most beautiful castle in all Upper Austria. Built for sheer loveliness of the combination of water, woods, and picturesque buildings of the later and more decorative age of military architecture, the castle is based on wooden-pile foundations and completely surrounded by water.

Aistersheim Castle is a good example of a Medieval defensive structure, however, what´s more it is a superb moated example of late Renaissance style architecture.
