The project also aims to preserve the life's work of the Mühlviertel painter Albrecht Dunzendorfer (1907 - 1980). He contributed decisively to the realisation of the idea of Artemons. In order to preserve his legacy, Albrecht Dunzendorfer will be honoured with a permanent exhibition in the former residential building. The Kunsthalle, Dunzendorfer's private house and an adjoining building have been connected by a central foyer and adapted into the Artemons art museum with contemporary architecture. This new museum preserves an extensive cross-section of Upper Austrian art. In addition, art enthusiasts are actively informed about local art through changing exhibitions, the development of a catalogue series on Upper Austrian painting and through activities with other museums and the University of Art and Design Linz. The exhibition is based on the painting collection of the Upper Austrian Picture Foundation, initiated by the industrialist Horst Rilke, with well over 3,000 works by Upper Austrian artists. Among others, the estates of Herbert Dimmel, Ludwig Schwarzer, Paul Ikrath and Josef Schnetzer have already been added to the collection.
