In 1483, Zell was given a permanent priest and became an independent parish for the first time. 1777 saw the parish church built under the Munich court architect Francois de Cuvillies the Younger and destroyed again five years later by a lightning strike. Only the side altars were saved. The parish chronicle gives an impressive account of the tower's construction in 1887 (can be read on the parish website). The tower only reached its imposing height of 65 metres some time later (1908). It is therefore no coincidence that the church now proudly bears the nickname "Innviertler Dom", and the interior of the classicist church features a Guggenbichler Madonna and frescoes by Fritz Fröhlich. 1997 to 2002 saw the interior and exterior of the "Innviertler Dom" completely renovated and the chancel generously extended. Among other things, a gilded folk altar has shone there since the renovation - depending on the incidence of light, different colours and moods are created.
