In 1982, Consul Gerhard Pömer founded the Waldburg Public Library under the guidance of the Adult Education Funding Agency, Mr Rupert Huber: a modern and generously equipped open-access library offering more than four thousand books, a games library, a video library and a small but excellent study library.

Sonja Maier, a municipal employee, is an extremely enthusiastic, expertly trained member of staff who has played a key role in setting up and running the public library. More than five hundred members from Waldburg and the neighbouring communities are loyal and enthusiastic customers.

Readers of all ages visit "their library". Numerous fringe events such as readings, games evenings and parent-child meetings keep the library just as attractive as the ongoing acquisition of current titles in all media.
