When you talk about a "pub", everyone quickly realises what you mean.
However, if you want to explain it in generally understandable terms, you quickly run out of vocabulary.

Nevertheless - here is an attempt at a definition. It is:
- a meeting place - of course,
- a feel-good place - of course,
- a pub with a traditional scale of values - yes,
- a place with a bar and kitchen and the people that go with it - yes,
- a pub with wooden furniture and a white ceiling - also,
- a place without barriers to entry and without constraints - exactly,
- a place that cannot be considered a restaurant, a café, a bar or an entertainment venue - very true,
- a refreshment stop where you can reach for a large jug, but where there is no shortage of fine wine - good,
...... will gradually complete this list!

In any case, our pub is a landlord's / landlady's house, where someone tries to cater for someone who is commonly referred to as a guest by every trick in the book.

That's exactly what we have in mind here!

Not that we have to learn it all over again. Our experiences on the k.u.k. Hofbeisl stage of life, of course, but the k.u.k. Hofwirt represents a very high degree of "varietal purity"!
