Schutzhütte Ruttenstein

The refuge is located at the foot of the mountain on which the Ruttenstein ruins were built in the middle of the 12th century.

We are a young, dynamic team who enjoy our work and cook hearty meals. We source our products from the region.

The refuge is located directly on the Johannesweg and the Tour de Alm. We invite you to relax and unwind. Recharge your batteries and unwind on our beautiful panoramic terrace. Riders are not neglected here either - with a fenced-in tethering area, water trough and fresh grass for mowing, horses are also well looked after.

Take your time and visit the Ruttenstein ruins. It takes about 10 minutes to walk to the ruins. Fantastic views from the castle keep, enjoy breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. Or find out more on a guided tour of the castle (for groups of 10 or more).

Our refuge offers space for 55 people.
We are happy to organise your company party, Christmas party or birthday party (please book in advance).

As a refuge we offer a dormitory for 13 people.
Bed linen and modern sanitary facilities (shower/WC; ladies & gentlemen) are available. You are also welcome to book with breakfast.
