There are many old houses along the Upper Austrian Danube whose names derive from "shipmasters". They come from the historical designation of the nauführer, nowadays captains, of navigation on the Danube. When traffic on the river was still determined by the large rafts, the shipmasters' houses often ran inns with attached agriculture. This also applies to the inn "Zum Schiffmeister" in Wesenufer, which was a loading station in the days of the old Danube navigation. At present, the Viehböck family maintains the hospitable tradition of this place - including an attached vinotheque and mustotheque!
