Sepp Huber Hütte - Mountain hut at the Kasberg

Cosy hut, rustic flair, nice people. This is how the atmosphere in the Sepp Huber Hut can be characterised.

The private Sepp Huber Hut in the Grünau im Almtal region is located on the hiking trail to the Kasberg summit and on the Kasbergalmrunde with wonderful viewpoints into the Upper Austrian Pre-Alps.

To the south-east of the hut and just under 250 m higher rises the summit of the Kasberg (1,747 m), which stands like a viewing podium in front of the Tote Gebirge due to the unobstructed view to the south.

Even closer, but somewhat more challenging to reach, is the Spitzplaneck (1,617m). The narrow, somewhat exposed peak looks like an eagle's nest. From there, there are deep views into the Almtal valley and to the northern slopes of the Tote Gebirge mountain range. If you want to enjoy them, you should have a good head for heights.

In winter, the Spitzplaneck is a popular ski tour, where you partly use the terrain of the Kasberg ski area, part of the ascent leads over free touring terrain. Directly from the ski slope, you can stop off at the Sepp Huber hut on the descent.
