Contemporary history tour
Linz, Oberösterreich, Österreich
Limonistollen Linz
For centuries, the sandstone hills to the west of Linz have been used for beer and wine cellars. During the Second World War, existing cellars were converted into huge air-raid shelters, drawing on the exploitation of concentration camp prisoners housed in the tunnels for their construction. As part of contemporary history tours with specially trained Austria Guides, it is possible to visit part of the Linz air-raid shelters.
Important information: The tunnel is dark, cold and damp. The floor is uneven. Make sure you wear good shoes, warm clothes and bring a torch. Helmets will be provided. Each participant must sign a disclaimer in advance.
Tip: Combine a guided tour of the Limon tunnel with a city walk.
Maximum group size 20 persons. Several groups can visit at the same time.
