Tracking down literature

The Stifterhaus combines the former home of Adalbert Stifter, a research centre, the Upper Austrian Literature Museum and the Upper Austrian Literature House. There is a special offer for groups. Founded in 1950 and located in the former home of Adalbert Stifter (1805-1868) since 1957, the Adalbert Stifter Institute of the Province of Upper Austria has been able to expand its status over the years to include several institutions in the field of literature and language in Upper Austria. Since 1993 it has housed a literature house with about 90 events a year (lectures, readings, book presentations).
The Upper Austrian Literature Museum, also established in 1993. The Upper Austrian Literature Museum, also established in 1993, is housed in the former Stifter flat on the second floor of the building and displays examples of Upper Austrian literary history from around 800 to the present. Stifter is commemorated by the presentation of selected autographs and realia on his life and work, especially in the poet's former study.

In the literature gallery on the ground floor, exhibitions on historical as well as contemporary literary topics are shown. One focus is on the presentation of archival materials that are kept in the in-house Upper Austrian Literary Archive. Literature Archive.
